Try our mouth watering tuna melt sandwich. One of my favorite quick cooking recipes for an easy kids' dinner.

Sometimes you just need something quick and easy to dish up for the kids' dinner at the end of the day.

If that's what you're looking for today then this easy tuna sandwich recipe is perfect.



Our tuna melt sandwich is a super easy, quick recipe that you can have on the table in 20 minutes and it's a great way to use up any slightly stale rolls that you may have lying around the place.




Ingredients: Equipment:
  • 4 Bread Rolls or Half a French Bread (lightly stale or fresh is fine)
  • 4 Knobs of Butter
  • 1 Can of Tuna (170g)
  • 2 tbsp Mayonnaise
  • Juice of Half a Lemon
  • 1 cup/ 250ml Grated Yellow Cheese
  • Pinch of Paprika
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Pinch of Ground Black Pepper
(Serves 2-4)


  • Grater
  • Sharp knife
  • Mixing Bowl
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 Minutes



How To Make Our Easy Tuna Melt Sandwich:


  • Preheat the oven to 180 deg C/ 350 deg F.

  • Slice the bread rolls in half or cut the half a French loaf into four pieces and then slice these in half lengthwise.

  • Spread each piece of bread with butter.

  • Open the can of tuna and drain it very well.

  • Add the tuna, grated cheese, lemon juice, mayonnaise, paprika, pepper and salt to a mixing bowl and mix together well.

  • Spread the mixture generously on each piece of bread.

  • Bake in the oven for approximately 10 minutes until the tuna mixture begins to brown.

This quick cooking recipe is perfect to serve with a few carrot sticks, some diced avocado and slices of cucumber so that the kids get their daily veggies. You can use the veggies to make faces on the sandwiches if you have a reluctant veggie eater!
