Easy Dessert Recipe: Peppermint Crisp Dessert

peppermint crisp easy dessert recipe Peppermint Crisp Easy Dessert Recipe

This Peppermint Crisp Dessert is a family favorite easy dessert recipe with cream, caramel and coconut and it requires no cooking.

This one is so easy even the kids can help out! It takes a bit longer if you get the kids involved, but it's so worth it to see the looks on their faces amid the sticky fingers and cheeks!

On the other hand, this is one of those quick dessert recipes that is equally popular with adults - my husband loves it!

A set of tall, glass dessert dishes is useful for serving this yummy treat. If you don't have any you can also use wine or tea glasses.

How To Make Our Peppermint Crisp Easy Dessert Recipe:

Quick Tip

Keeping your kids clean:
If you're making this a family affair, make sure your kids are well covered with an apron or old t-shirt before you start- this one gets messy!

  • Place the biscuits inside a ziploc bag and crush using a rolling pin - you may need more than one bag depending on the size.

  • Whip the fresh cream with an electric whisk until it forms soft peaks.

  • Break the chocolate in pieces and place in a ziploc bag. Crush using the rolling pin. Tip: It helps to put the chocolate in the freezer for a while beforehand.

  • Warm the tin of caramel for a few minutes in a bowl of hot water to make it easier to work with.

(If you're using condensed milk, caramelize it as follows: Pour 1 can condensed milk into 2 quart glass measure. Cook on 50 % power (medium) for 4 minutes, stirring briskly every 2 minutes until smooth. Cook on 30% power (medium-low) 12-18 minutes or until very thick and caramel colored, stirring briskly every 2 minutes until smooth. Allow to cool.)

  • Add a layer of biscuit crumbs to the bottom of each glass.

  • Follow with a layer of caramel, then chocolate, then cream.

  • Repeat this process until your glass is full finishing off with a layer of cream. (Keep a few crumbs of chocolate aside for decorating.)

  • Place the glasses of peppermint crisp dessert in the fridge for 1-2 hours to chill.

  • Lick fingers, spoons and anything else with a trace of caramel on it! (Kids only?)

  • Decorate with reserved chocolate crumbs.

Variations on Our Easy Dessert Recipe:

Jazz it up!

  • If you love coconut like I do you may like to sprinkle layers of toasted coconut flakes over the biscuits.
  • If the caramel is too sweet for you, leave it out and add a little extra chocolate instead.
  • For a completely different twist, leave out the caramel, replace the peppermint chocolate with plain, dark chocolate and add layers of toasted almond flakes.
